I can't believe the baby will be considered full term in only one week (37-40 weeks is full-term)! Nathan is hoping Brendan will cook for the full 40 weeks but I will be ready anytime after Christmas!

I am now 36 weeks pregnant and getting pretty uncomfortable. Lets just say I can't wait to easily tie my shoes again!

Doctor's Appointment - 35 Weeks
I am now seeing the doctor every week. This week they checked me for the first time to see if I was dilated. As of Tuesday, I am 75% effaced and 1 cm dilated (for those of you who know what that means). I should be 100% effaced and 10 cm dilated during labor so my body has started to prepare for Brendan's birthday. This doesn't mean the baby is going to come early but it does mean everything is progressing (which is good). I hope this is not too much information for some of you! I have a doctor' appointment next Wednesday so we will see if anything changes this next week.
We are getting very excited! Last night I made my last run out to Babies R Us to pick up my last minute items that I think we will need. I didn't have to get very much stuff because our family & friends have been very generous with very thoughtful gifts! Thank you to everyone who has helped us prepare for our bundle of joy!

35 Weeks
Only 5 more weeks until D Day! This weekend my sister-in-law Shelly threw us a baby shower at The Melting Pot (one of my favorite places) in Seattle. The belly shot below is from Saturday at the Copacabana (our Whidbey Island Cabin) and the picture below that is the suit that Grandpa & Grandma Cano got for Brendan. Our baby boy is going to be a little business man just like his Daddy and Grandpa!

32 & 33 Weeks
We are now 33.5 weeks pregnant! See below for pictures from 32 weeks and 33 weeks. I will have to do another belly shot next week to show how nice and round I'm getting. We had maternity photos taken on Monday and I can't wait to see how they turned out. We must have taken between 300-400 photos!

Another Ultrasound!
Today we had an ultrasound with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist to check the kidneys again. Our doctor called last Wednesday after the previous ultrasound and wanted us to go back to the specialist because things had gotten a little worse. However, today was good news that everything looked pretty good and we should just wait to see how he checks out after the delivery. Brendan will need to have some special tests about 3 days after he is born and then we will know more about the severity of his backed up kidneys. We will just hope and pray that his condition gets better once he is born. Below are the pictures they took today. Brendan is looking straight at us with his big chunky kissable cheeks.

Utrasound
Today was our next 4 week kidney check ultrasound. The fluid in his kidneys measured a little higher than last time. His kidneys are now bigger than last time so the increase in fluid isn't too alarming. We will recheck again in 4 weeks when I am 36 weeks pregnant. His amniotic fluid level was good, his heartbeat sounded great, etc. so he is doing well as far as we can see. He is a whopping 4.5 pounds! We are getting pretty excited to meet our bundle of joy! Below is a picture of Brendan from today looking at us head on. He's got some cute chubby cheeks!

3D Ultrasound
Here are our 3D photos of Brendan that we had taken today! We also have a 15 minute DVD with 2D & 3D clips. His hand was in front of his face most the time but you can still see his chubby cheeks and cute lips. They said he has some hair too but I could barely tell.

31 Weeks
Only 9 weeks left to go! Nathan and I are putting together our glider and changing table tonight. The dresser has a lot of parts so Nathan will be working on this project for a few hours.
I had a doctors appointment yesterday afternoon. Everything looks great again. Brendan's heartbeat sounded good and I am measuring at the right size for this week. I think he is doing well because he is moving a lot. We will have an ultrasound to check the kidneys again next Monday.
We have a fun ultrasound photo session scheduled for tomorrow. The place we are going to will take 3D and 4D video and photos. We will be able to bring home a DVD of Brendan set to music! We are very excited because we should be able to see the baby really well in 3D (the other ultrasounds we have had have been 2D flat images). I will post these photos this week!

30 Weeks
Today we are 30 weeks pregnant! I am starting to feel quite big now (even though I know I will probably get much bigger). I had incredible energy these last 10+ weeks and just in the last week I am slowing down a bit. It is definitely getting harder to normal activities (like bending over, getting out of bed, sleeping, etc). Here is a picture taken today at Michele's house (notice the pictures in the background).

28 Weeks
We are now at 28 weeks! I am in the 3rd and final trimester so we are on the downhill stretch. We have less than 12 weeks to go. Time flies by faster in the end than in the beginning for sure. I feel great and have lots of energy, however I am making sure I get plenty of sleep. We have started on Brendan's nursery so we will be focusing on that for the next few weeks. The pictures below were taken last night. I feel like I'm getting bigger everyday!

Ultrasounds
We had another ultrasound today. I thought I would explain our last ultrasounds first to give you a little background on today's results.
Our first ultrasound was on 5/24/06 at 6.5 weeks when I was experiencing some cramping. Everything looked great at that point and I could see the heartbeat for the first time. The cramping eventually subsided in the next couple of weeks.
On 7/6/06 we had an optional genetic testing ultrasound to check for downs syndrome, etc. Basically I wanted to do this test to see if we were at risk but mainly to see the baby! At this appointment they were able to tell that our baby was indeed a boy. This was pretty amazing because I was only 12.5 weeks and the baby had to be in the perfect position to be able to tell the sex accurately.
On 8/21/06 we had our midway (19 week) anatomy check ultrasound. This is the ultrasound were they check all the baby's body parts and usually can confirm the sex. They noticed at that time that Brendan had fluid backed up in his kidneys. They said that it didn't look too bad and they would keep checking it throughout the pregnancy. They reassured us it was pretty common in boys to have this problem and that it would most likely clear up after he was born.
On 9/18/06 we had another ultrasound to check on the kidneys again. They felt that it would be good for us to see a specialist to keep a closer eye on the problem.
On 9/22/06 we went to the maternal fetal specialist to measure the kidney fluid. They basically said the kidneys were having problems but it did not look like the baby was in any danger. The doctor also noticed that his belly was measuring a bit large for his age and that it might indicate that I had gestational diabetes (which would be checked at my next doctors appointment). They advised us to keep watching the kidneys closely to make sure they weren't getting any worse. The doctor talked about possibly inducing me if they got worse and were not functioning. I guess we will cross that bridge if we get there.
Today we had our next follow-up ultrasound appointment. We will now have an ultrasound every four weeks until he is born (our due date is Jan. 15, 2007). Today the fluid measured about the same. So far we are not worried because it doesn't look like he is having any problems. His amniotic fluid level is perfect and his size measurements are now right on. Last week I also had my glucose test that checks for gestational diabetes and the results came back normal. I'm glad that I won't have to worry about that now as well. We will keep you posted on the next doctor and ultrasound appointments. Hope we didn't make any of you too worried. We will just keeping praying that Brendan will go full-term and his little kidney issue will clear up. The below profile picture was taken today. He is now 2.7 pounds and very cute!

Kaya & Tabitha
We have two crazy pets. Kaya is our lovable Blue Heeler Australian Cattle Dog. She just turned 7 years old this last August. She enjoys playing fetch and going to our Whidbey Island cabin. Tabitha is our Tabby cat who is 6 years old. She is an indoor cat who likes to cuddle and sleep all day. Below are a few pictures of our trouble makers.
